This beautiful piece is inspired by early 14th century bassinets, which had been given visors to protect the face, a feature absent from earlier bassinets, but before the visors began to be drawn out into a beak or muzzle shape, common called a “pig-face.” The study 16 gauge steel on this helmet will serve well as protection during SCA armored fighting. The eye slits and air vents provide both good visibility and airflow.
