It is said, in the Poetic Edda, that the ravens, Huginn and Muninn, fly around the world every day, bringing Odin knowledge. They are often depicted perched on the god’s shoulders, whispering in his ear the things they’ve seen and heard. Here, they are depicted as they are in flight, scouring the world for bits of knowledge and lore to bring back to their master. On the tip is engraved the face of Odin himself, awaiting their return, and fearing that they will not.
