Up on a green grassy hill sat a little shrine. By all outward appearances, it seemed unremarkable, though its weather-beaten exterior betrayed its long years in the service of the nearby town. Every morning, the son of the shrine keeper would look up the hill and ask his father, “What was inside the shrine?” Every time, the old man would answer, “Nothing for you to mind, my lad,” but the child’s curiosity grew, and by the time he was a young man, it overwhelmed him. He rose before dawn, made his way up the hill, and opened the doors to the shrine, himself. What the youth found in there, was a rather odd-looking sword, lying quite still, and brilliantly clean, despite its dusty surroundings. It almost seemed to beckon to him – the young man reached out and grabbed the sword, and…well, you get to decide where the story takes him, when you take up this mysterious sword for yourself!
