The Claymore was the sword of Scotland. The sword came into widespread use during the 13th century in Scotland and was used up until the 17th century in Clan wars, and border disputes with England. On the battlefield the Claymore was a fearsome opponent. It was slightly shorter than the average two handed sword of the time allowing it to be wielded faster, but with the same crushing blows as its counterparts.
The blade of the sword is 440 Stainless Steel. The edge of the blade is unsharpened and the point dulled.
The scabbard of the sword is hardwood with a black synthetic leather cover. The scabbard end cap is aged steel with a celtic pattern and a trefoil drag. The scabbard throat is also celtic patterned steel with a groove in each side to fit the guards languets.
The guard of the sword is solid steel with the traditional Scottish design of downward sloping arms ending in quatrefoils.
A languet is fitted on each side of the guard to secure the sword in the scabbard. The Languets are heavily patterned with celtic circles. In the middle of the guard is a lion sejant guardant on either side.
The handle of the sword is steel with synthetic black wood finish. 3 steel medallions decorate the handle. The pommel is steel disc design.
