This Musha Nagamaki is a long-handled samurai sword described as a horse sword, with a hand-forged carbon steel blade and a black lacquered saya scabbard. The Nagamaki was used by strong infantry against mounted cavalry; this sword is described as fully functional for cutting light, medium, and heavy targets.
The overall length is 69.5 inches. The blade is 33.75 inches including the habaki, and the handle is 35.5 inches. The blade has a full-length bohi. The nakago (tang) extends through most of the handle, about 25 inches. Weight is 3 lbs 10 oz, not including the saya. Condition: brand new.
The handle has black cotton ito wrapped over real white samegawa on the ends, with a flat-braided red ito center and two iron reinforcing rings along the tsuka. It has four antiqued dragon menuki in total, with steel fuchi and kashira. The black lacquered saya has gold engraved kanji and a double-rings design.
