This black, Large Type I gambeson is a handmade reproduction of a 14th-century padded armour coat. It is made of cotton with a wool felt lining and has three layers of cotton batting. The front fastens with four period-style straps and brass buckles.
The removable sleeves allow it to be worn sleeveless, with half sleeves, or with full sleeves. Its arms are hinged at the shoulder yoke, leaving the armpits open for ventilation and helping avoid pull on the arms when swinging a weapon. The flexible construction is designed to allow free movement under armour. Dry clean only.
