The Cold Steel Gladius Trainer is a practice sword designed to closely duplicate a real sword in length, size, weight, and feel.
It features a 22" blade length, 31" overall length, 9" handle, and 13.3 oz weight. The material is polypropylene, a synthetic substitute that is described as virtually unbreakable, remarkably stiff, and cut resistant.
Cold Steel notes that this trainer uses the heaviest grade polypropylene available, offering a low-price alternative to traditional wooden training swords while avoiding issues like rot, cracking, splitting, or splintering.
