The bullet has a wide flat nose (meplat) and a gas check. The supplier describes it as designed to penetrate soft tissue, heavy bone, and hide, while the wide flat nose is intended to cut a large, clean hole without flight deviation or deflection.
The 21 Brinell lead is described as holding its shape and not deforming on impact. The gas check is attached to the back of the bullet to help prevent powder burn from melting the lead and causing smearing or fouling in the barrel.
