The Cold Steel Oyabun is a folding knife designed to closely emulate Cold Steel's famous Tanto. Andrew Demko worked on the design, with input from Lynn Thompson.
Its 4034 stainless steel blade has a reinforced point, a high satin polish, and an edge described as stunningly sharp. The blade receives expert heat treatment to Rc57 and is sub-zero quenched.
An integral flipper provides opening, while a patent-pending leaf spring lock and safety secure the folding design. This lock and safety were first used in the Crawford 1 folder.
The handle has stainless steel liners and an injection-molded Griv-Ex™ foundation over-molded with soft, checkered Kray-Ex™. Two robust bolts fasten the handle to the frame.
