Fishing a jig during the pre-spawn and early spring transition is a proven way to target quality bass staging around wood, rock, and deeper cover before they move shallow. Whether you are dragging a football jig along secondary points or pitching a compact casting jig to isolated cover, this technique consistently produces bigger bites when fish are feeding up. The MB874 stands out in the lineup for this application, offering 7’3” of length for increased casting distance and better line control. Its heavy power provides the backbone needed for solid hooksets and the confidence to pull a springtime giant away from cover and into the boat.
