The Smith's Edge Pocket Pal X2 is a lightweight, compact, durable sharpener and outdoor tool for backpackers, hikers, campers, and outdoor sports enthusiasts. It includes two pull-through sharpening slots: COARSE and FINE. They sharpen both sides of a standard edge knife blade at the same time, work quickly to provide a durable, long-lasting cutting edge, and use preset angles for a consistent edge.
A fold-out, tapered diamond rod sharpens serrations, gut hooks, and single-bevel knife blades, then stores in the bottom of the housing. The abrasives are carbides—coarse, ceramic—fine (1,000), and diamond rod—medium (400).
Outdoor features include a fire starter with twice the spark of normal fire-starting tools; the sharpening slot can also be used with the fire starter to make sparks. A push-button LED light improves visibility in low-light conditions, a high-pitched signal whistle helps identify your location, and a compass supports directional travel.
