The Red Dragon Armoury Synthetic Longsword School 6-Pack includes nylon sparring swords with black blades. Made in the United Kingdom, the swords feature black guards, handles, and pommels. Specs will vary slightly from piece to piece.
The blades are designed to flex in the last one-third of their length toward the tip for safer thrusting than conventional wooden wasters or shinai. A high-tensile steel rod runs the full length of the handle to reinforce the blade-and-tang joint and remove the handle flex typically associated with plastic training swords. Rubber-like thermoplastic elastomer grips are designed to absorb strike impact and fit tightly on the tangs.
Ball-shaped quillon finials and rounded pommels on the longsword and single-hand sword, along with the basket-hilt sword’s pommel and basket, are designed for sparring safety. The synthetic blades are also an option for theatrical use and are inherently safer than steel or aluminum. Red Dragon’s interchangeable parts let users create different sword styles on a single blade.
